A casino isn’t built in a day. In fact, the journey to building this casino began decades ago — but that’s a story for another day. Here are a few of the biggest milestones since we began this journey.
Fall 2019
Final casino location approved by Louis Bull Tribe council.
March 2020
Final contractor bid review and selection.
July 2020
Initial design layout renderings received.
March 2022
Financing secured from multiple lenders and grants.
August 2020
Soil remediation started.
October 2022
Ground breaking ceremony.
April 2023
Foundation concrete poured.
July 2023
Soil remediation complete.
September 2023
Casino building exterior walls complete.
December 2023
Interior drywall, mudding and taping completed.
December 2023
Exterior signage was raised and installed.

The Bear Hills Casino & Travel Resort is owned and founded by the Louis Bull Tribe, which is one of the Four Nations of Maskwacis and part of the Cree nations — the largest group of First Nations in Canada.
Our community encompasses 3,127 hectares, and is bordered by the Ermineskin Cree Nation, the County of Wetaskiwin No. 10, and the County of Ponoka.
