Junk mail is just a way of life now so I wouldn't let it bug you. Just like postal junk mail you just have to deal with it and get rid of it.

Don't try to block messages, just drag them to the Junk folder and leave it there. With time the backend system will learn about them and eventually start moving them to the Junk folder on its one.

Thanks for reply,  I am currently using Outlook for web (which syncs to Samsung tablet too) via Microsoft office subscription product "Microsoft office 365" version 1709 for which we pay £5.99 a month for via my husbands account. (Looking to get rid of this as it is too costly now and will log into the newer version on the web?).

The problem seemed to get worse over the last couple of months but have had similar issues many times in the past.

We suggest checking the article: Filter junk email and spam in Outlook.com to help with the issue. Follow the steps on how to filter emails so that the emails that you don't like to see will be blocked immediately.

Let us know if you have other concern.

Hi,

Thanks, but as in my original message, I don't have an email address or a domain on the ones coming into in the junk folder - I don't even open them and this keeps coming up when I try to block:-

"The e-mail address or domain name you entered is not valid. Valid entries include: *** Email address is removed for privacy *** or example .com"

So none of this filter and block info is any use. They somehow send them with an attachment and a red flag on  so I can't do anything other than delete.

This is how my junk mail folder looks - and its the same most days :-

Based on the screenshot that you provided, it seems that you are using the Mail app and not Outlook.com. Could you verify if which email client you are using?
