This is one of the places that’s truly worth the 5-star rating! I know I can be a bias being a geek for the Casablanca film since I was young, but this is not just a restaurant! This is the full re-imagining of the classic brilliance in that ’s film. I wasn’t able to take a photo of the queue outside but a lot of people are truly lining-up for this cafe. It’s even considered one of the tourist spots in Casablanca. Heck, I’ll just say it.. But I believe Casablanca became famous in credits to this film! Anyway, there’s definitely no walk-in chances to this restaurant. You have to visit their website and book there! Oh yes, their set of dishes in their menu is exceptional and it’s an advantage as well that they have a live music inside that varies each night. It can be Arabesque or a live jazz choir performance depending on the night. I don’t really know the schedule but it’s worth to look-on as a surprise. Just came for drinks and dessert with my friends as our reservation was so we had to eat dinner earlier. But even so, their apple pie dessert and Rick’s cheesecake was exceptional! I’d say (as the film geek), this is the top place to visit in Casablanca.

Very nicely decorated restaurant in the 40s style! It's worth a visit even if you haven't watched the movie. The food is more pricey of course, but not that much more than other touristic places in Marrakesh. We had the seafood linguine and the sea bass with curry, both were really nice and decent portions. Service was super friendly too.

Booked for a Sunday lunch at this famed establishment. Little did I know it was founded only in , recreated based on the fictitious cafe in the movie. Although I never saw the entire movie I was rather hoping they would play that song which Sam is supposed to play again and again. But unfortunately live music starts in the evening after 9 only. Food and service were good. We ordered a prawn salad to share. Sea bass and linguine as mains. Wanted to try their lamb shank but it's not on the menu and waiter said it's no longer available. After chowing down desserts we were awfully full. The crowd seated for lunch that day were mainly folks of the movie's vintage while a younger lot perched at the bar for cocktails. Let's not forget it's just after noon! Smokers can go upstairs where there's more tables and another bar. All in all, a nice place to have a classy meal if you're ever in Casablanca!

I would have loved to rate them 5 but did not get the treatment I was expecting from them. Have worked in a hospitality industry and learnt to treat all customers equal and that's what was missing here. Few friends dropped out at the last moment so we were just 4 for dinner with a table booked for 8 which did not go well with the hostess. The restaurant was almost empty with quite a few tables actually seated but we were the culprits. Everyone wants to enjoy a fine dinning once in a while and when in Casablanca why not at the Rick's Cafe. All I asked was well cooked lamb chops and what I received was two lamb chops cooked in different temperatures. Such a waste of money.

Be sure to make a reservation a head of time to guarantee a seat! This restaurant is one of a kind! The staff are hospitable, the meals are delicious and the ambiance is top notch! If you come at night there is also live music which is soothing! Be sure to order some drinks as well!

Went here for our anniversary dinner and to share in the "golden age of cinema" experience. The food was incredible - we had to pause to enjoy it! The cocktails were lovely. The service was unbeatable - I barely had to light my own cigarettes much less pour my own wine. This is a 5 star place, so expect to pay fine dining prices - but well worth every penny. Please tip the piano player and service staff - they do an amazing job!! We left full, tipsy, and elated!

If course I came because of the movies and I knew it's built after the movie. But still it's a nice place to visit. The prices in Morocco are very friendly for Europeans and Americans. Dishes are ranging from a few dollars to twentys (USD). The shrimp salad with mango and avocado was fresh and refreshing. The grilled seabass was tender and juicy, flavor enriched by the curry sauce. Cheesecake was rich but not too sweet. The staff were friendly. Feel free to take pictures of the nice interior design and do forget to visit the second floor with the movie setup, posters, bar and roulette table.

A restaurant done out to mimic the set for that classic film, Casablanca. It was very busy! It was essential to book. We had booked to go in for a drink so did not eat here. There is a small bar area where a film of Casablanca is on a cycled run …. It was a joy. Bar staff were friendly and welcoming. Loads of people ( like us) taking photos. It felt great 😊

Beautiful cafe with traditional design. Live music and nice atmosphere. Food was so tasty and delicious. We got goat cheese and fig salad for starter, lamb shank and beef stroganoff for main course and apple tart with vanilla ice cream and espresso ice cream shake for dessert. We really enjoy every single item we ordered.

Beautiful place. Servers were very friendly and knowledgeable, but didn’t come around often and we had to get their attention most of the time. Appetizers (oysters) and dessert (apple tart) were really good. Steak was not, maybe it was just me. Spinach a tad dry, but mushrooms were super flavorful. Dress code is non-existent, but they say there is oneI didn’t care, but some of my business colleagues did. Went at lunch, so no music was playing. May or may not go back, but def worth checking out.

Great food and atmosphere but feels like a tourist trap. The food tastes great and portion sizes were large, the price is high but to be expected from a fine dining establishment. For a portion of the night there was live music, very classy, very soothing, and a good accompaniment with a nice dinner. The music turns to oldies quick that make you feel like you are at Rick's Cafe in the 40s, but that's where that feeling stops. Beside the music and some Casblanca movie props, this place doesn't feel like Rick's Cafe. Saturday night and so empty, never would've imagined Rick's to be like this. Maybe I'm holding this place to a weird standard, but anyone wanting to visit to get a Rick's cafe feel you will be disappointed. I was also disappointed with the rude and not-caring attitude of the waiter, which is a let down because for the most part I've enjoyed socializing in Morocco.

Amazing food and service! A real testament to the Casablanca movie with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Rick’s Cafe really does a good job of making sure you have a great experience. We ordered the lamb shank, which is what we were told most people order. We also ordered the seafood platter, which was very big and delicious. Would totally recommend to tourists but definitely not a spot that locals frequent. 10/10 would recommend!!

Was looking forward to Rick's Cafe and wasn't disappointed. The greeting, ambience, food, and drinks was just what we were expecting. We originally booked a lunchtime table but then decided to change it to a dinner and music reservation, which we did quite easily the evening before. If I had one negative, I would have to say the music, I'm sure the couple were very good in front of a Moroccan audience, but I was expecting maybe songs / music from the s. I think they did play clips from the film during the musicians' breaks, but as we were sitting upstairs, we couldn't hear what it was very well. To my untrained ear, every time the musicians came back on, they seemed to sing the same songs again. I would definitely go again, but maybe just for lunch, unless I hear that it's a different type of music.

Very special experience. You felt like 80 years ago. Very special place, inspired by the movie Casablanca. A must when you visit Casablanca. Drinks and food are very good, staff a completely attentive.

Went here twice during my week in Casablanca because the cocktails (alcoholic) and vibes were great. Loved the live band and the atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Was delighted to find out this place existed! Very cool to have been able to get inside and enjoy dinner. The food, however was subpar and the wait staff was not great at all, very rushed and very limited service.

Honestly I can’t fault this place at all. Yes the beer is expensive but if you’re there then you’re there for the place. The food is amazing and white reasonably priced, the staff are incredibly kind and attentive, and the atmosphere is great, especially when they start the live music. Cannot recommend highly enough, especially for fans of the wonderful movie itself.

I'm sure everyone visiting Rick's Café is already well aware of the beautiful interior design that closely resembles/imagines the movie. What might be overlooked is just how fantastic the food really is!! We had the prawn salad and burrata for starters + the Rick's special ribeye for two persons, and everything was remarkably delicious and flavorful. We were not expecting such great food for a restaurant that primarily targets tourists, and would certainly come back again just for the good food if we have the chance! There is an extensive drink list including wine, beers and cocktails. We had two glasses of Moroccan red wine and it was the most generous serving of wine by glass we have ever had anywhere - filled almost to the very top of the glass so definitely no wine glass swirling here 😄 Even knowing that the restaurant is modeled after the movie, it was still super impressive to see in real life. If you are seated on the first floor, don't forget to also go upstairs to take a look at the recreated gambling salon and bar. A very fun experience especially if you're a fan of the movie. (and even if you're not, I'm convinced its anyway an amazing setting to enjoy excellent food and drinks in Casablanaca) We were placed for the 9pm dinner seating which I initially thought late for dinner, but was very happy about the timing when we were actually there because it meant we were not at all rushed by the staff to finish before a next seating, and could slowly enjoy the delicious meal and wonderful evening at our own pace. We stayed over hours including time for a leisurely coffee and second drink after the meal. The pianist and 3-piece band provided wonderful ambience and entertainment throughout. Expect a queue at the door even if you have made reservations, but it is cleared very efficiently at your appointed time. They won't let you in ahead of your reservation time so don't make the mistake we did of heading there early thinking it would be possible to start with a drink at the bar before dinner (isn't possible). Just get there at your appointed time slot. Numerous taxis are waiting right at the door of Rick's Cafe when it's time to leave, but make sure to negotiate extra hard as prices quoted will be 3 or 4 times higher than the real price (or just walk away if the prices still feel like a rip-off as there are much more taxis waiting just on the main road.)

So happy we managed to get to try here. Walked in for lunch, without a reservation. Staff were so welcoming and friendly. Food was outstanding! Felt like Michelin star food and service, couldn't believe how cheap it was when the bill came. Couldn't recommend this place more!

Cheryl MacGregor — Google review

Overall worth it. Staff is welcoming and professional, they know what they're doing. Even when they are not very subtle wanting to throw you out after 2h. The menu is simple enough, international, not really influenced by the Moroccan location. Food is decent, not spectacular (ordered my stake medium, came well done). The setup takes you in the movie, especially when the piano guy comes in and does As Time Goes By. Sadly, he's from Venezuela, so that's the only song he knows from the time Casablanca was filmed. The other ones he plays are Latino, so as soon as that starts you're breaking away from the movie atmosphere straight into DESPERADO territory.

A MUST-SEE if you find yourself in Casablanca. They nailed the aesthetic, including recreating the live music and service. I loved the food. It was the best I had in Morocco. Service was so very attentive and helpful. Pricing was standard American pricing.

Daniel McClure — Google review

the only bad thing about rick's was the reservation process-tip for that: call early in the morning for dinner reservations the same day, speak french or arabic if possible:) service was amazing, food was great they have a separate vegetarian menu!!!!!! this really made this experience excellent make sure to explore upstairs as well, this place is so special (coke was flat btw)

Great place overall. I am not giving 5 stars because my lamb chops tasted good but came a bit over cooked besides that i requested to come medium. All the rest was great. Also when we stepped out of the restaurant and decided to go back to take a picture of the 2nd floor, the security denied our entrance. I thought it was rude.
