The former Portuguese colony, Daman and Diu is home to India’s first land-based integrated resort and casino outside the state of Goa. Daman is home to Deltin Daman, a property across 10 acres of land. With state-of-the-art facilities, the Deltin casino has a 60, square feet of gambling space, more than 30 table games and multiple gaming machines.
According to the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act, casinos can be set up only at five star hotels or offshore vessels with the prior permission of the government. This led the Deltin Group to open their first land based Casino in Daman.

It is India’s only listed company engaged in casino (live, electronic and online) gaming. As gambling is a an under-penetrated industry in India, Delta Corp has secured a prime position in the the Indian gaming and entertainment industry.

Indian law classifies these games into two types: Game of chance or game of skill. Gambling regulations in India are stringent, and only three states have legalized gambling on their territory. Due to the prevalence of Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act of , Land-based and offshore casinos are active in Goa, Diu & Daman and Sikkim.

Although, the government has still not made gambling legal across the country, the Industry has brought a lot of benefits to the Indian economy, as a whole. Legalizing would prevent illegal games and improvised casinos would bring significant revenue. Gambling is an ancient activity practised by Indians and it is unlikely that it would go out of fashion any day. However, casinos strictly do not admit local players, and it has been mandated for tourists only.
