The historic Coral Casino Beach & Cabana Club in Montecito will reopen in January with newly renovated facilities and a $2, monthly membership fee, the club owner announced this week.

The private club at Channel Drive emailed its members Thursday about the Jan. 20 opening date and changes to operations since it closed in early

Ty Warner Hotels & Resorts has taken over management of the club from the Four Seasons, which manages the Four Seasons Resort-The Biltmore Santa Barbara across the street, and is making the second-floor Tydes restaurant open to the public.

The company also is restricting the club’s pools and other amenities to members and their guests, which means no more access for hotel guests.

Some Coral Casino members objected to the changes as well as the implication that they were necessary for the club to reopen. In July, they reached an agreement with club management before the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors met to discuss the operational changes.

The club and the hotel have had construction underway for months, and the Coral Casino management boasted of its new facilities in the membership email this week.

Among the changes are a bigger beach entry kid’s pool, a new cold plunge pool, resurfaced tennis and pickleball courts, a renovated Fins restaurant with a wraparound bar, new fitness center equipment, and a renovated second-story restaurant, which isn’t finished yet.

The Thomas Keller Restaurant Group will oversee food and beverage operations at the Coral Casino, and the restaurants will be redesigned to “match the brand and inspiration” of the group, Keller’s representatives said in a July statement.

Coral Casino management was charging monthly membership dues in the range of $ to $ when the club closed in , but has announced that the monthly dues will be raised to $2, when it reopens — more than a % increase.

“Coral Casino’s reopening celebrates its bright future while honoring its historical past,” Warner wrote in a letter to members. “I want to personally thank you for your continued support throughout this exciting renovation project.”
