Foxwoods Resort and Casino is located in Ledyard, Connecticut and is approx. 1 1/2 hour drive from Hartford Connecticut, 2 hour drive from the New York border and 1/2 off the Rhode Island line. Foxwoods offers several hotels, casinos, children’s areas, meeting areas, unique shopping experiences, spas, golf and more! Additionally, Foxwoods has partnered with MGM to expand the 4.7 million square foot complex to include additional hotels, restaurants and a luxury shopping corridor.

Hotels on the property include the Grand Pequot Tower, Grand Cedar Hotel and Two Trees Inn. MGM will be added in the spring. Grand Pequot Tower is a 4-star (AAA) hotel with more than 1,000 rooms. The serene Grand Salon and Spa is also on offer at Towers. Grand Cedar Hotel is located above Rainmaker Square, Theater District, fine dining, shopping, indoor pool and fitness center. Rainmaker Square is the entrance to a separate portal from one of the casinos. Both hotels offer excellent service and staff and are comparable to any Marriott (Pequot Tower) or Sheraton (Grand Cedar) hotel with an indoor pool and all the amenities.

My favorite is the Two Trees Inn. Two Trees is located about 10 minutes from the casino. This is a quiet, quieter hotel that caters to individuals who want to ‘get on vacation’ but can still go to the casino whenever they want. There is a large indoor pool, a sit-down restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and very friendly and professional staff. Just walking there makes me want to curl up by the ‘fire’ with a good book. One word of advice, during busy times you should make a reservation at the restaurant or get there early to get a table.

As far as the casino goes it is one of the largest in the world (officially it is). There are over 380 tables with games ranging from blackjack and craps to paigow and Caribbean Stud Poker. There are more than 7,000 slots including a non-smoking area of ​​500 slots. The refurbished poker room has new penny and nickel slots.

Since the slots were moved, the smoke-free poker rooms have been moved to a lower level. Foxwoods is a charter member of the World Poker Tour. It hosted the World Poker Finals and the Foxwoods Poker Classic with its 114 tables. For the average player, you will find Hold’em, Stud and more with very low to no limit tables. There is a cafe with hot and cold offerings right next to the poker floor. Personally I like it when the poker room is upstairs (more spacious) but the new area has a more intimate feel.
