The Hangover soundtrack features songs from a wide variety of musicians, ranging from rappers like Kanye West to prog rock performers like Phil Collins. The movie revolves around a bachelor party in Las Vegas in which the groom (Justin Bartha) goes missing. A disparate group of songs is used throughout this Vegas escapade. There are even a couple of songs in the movie sung by cast members: Stu (Ed Helms) wonders what tigers dream of “when they take a little tiger snooze,” and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) declares them to be “the three best friends that anybody could have.”

The Hangover was a hit at the box office, grossing more than $ million worldwide and earning a Guinness World Record for the highest-grossing R-rated comedy. Part of what makes The Hangover so great is its use of music. The Hangover has an original score composed by Christophe Beck, evoking the sounds of western scores to pair with the desert setting and theme of masculinity gone awry, but it also features 20 other songs. Director Todd Phillips included needle drops from such artists as Danzig, Rihanna, and Mickey Avalon.

“It’s Now or Never” by El Vez – This song plays at the beginning of the movie. Set near the end of the film, The Hangover’s opening scene sees the wedding being prepared as Phil (Bradley Cooper) calls the bride, Tracy (Sasha Barrese), to tell her that they “f***** up.”

“Thirteen” by Danzig – This western-style rock ‘n’ roll song plays during the opening credits over a montage of various sights and tourist spots around the movie’s Las Vegas setting.

“Take It Off” by The Donnas – This song kicks in as the Wolfpack hits the road and heads to Vegas for the fateful bachelor party.

“Can’t Tell Me Nothing” by Kanye West – This song plays when the Wolfpack arrives in Vegas and checks in at Caesar’s Palace. This was the first of several songs by West to appear in The Hangover trilogy; “Monster” played in The Hangover Part II and “Dark Fantasy” played in The Hangover Part III.

“Iko Iko” by The Belle Stars – This song kicks in as the Wolfpack rides down the escalator into the casino so a card-counting Alan can win a fortune, à la Rain Man.

“Joker & the Thief” by Wolfmother – This song plays as Alan, Phil, Stu, and his wife Jade (Heather Graham) all play blackjack at the same table in a bid to win the ransom money they need to free Doug.

“Three Best Friends” by Zach Galifianakis – Alan sings this song in the back of the car as they drive out into the desert to save Doug.

“Ride the Sky II” by Revolution Mother – After the guys find Doug on the roof and begin the drive back home, this song kicks in. The band’s frontman, extreme sports star Mike Vallely also cameos as the guy who delivers the tuxedos from a moving van.

“Candy Shop” by The Dan Band – This is the first song played at the wedding reception. The Dan Band is a comedy band formed by Dan Finnerty. They perform cover versions of well-known pop songs with profanity added to the lyrics. The band previously appeared in Phillips’ other comedies Old School and Starsky & Hutch.

“Flashdance / Fame” by The Dan Band – This is the second song that The Dan Band plays at the wedding reception.

“Right Round” by Flo Rida – This song plays during the end credits. After Doug finds his camera full of pictures from the infamous bachelor party, they agree to look at them once before deleting them and the photos appear in a montage over the closing credits, set to this Flo Rida hit (also featured in Pitch Perfect).
