Written by Ryan Pfeffer

South Florida ain’t exactly Las Vegas, but there are still plenty of casinos in Miami offering acres of glowing, clanging opportunities to win (or lose) big. Does the prospect of blowing a paycheck in a matter of seconds scare you? Good news: if you’re not a gambler, our South Florida casinos offer a lot more than just slots. Some of them are also booking the best concerts in Miami and serving food made by chefs who have worked in some of the best restaurants in Miami. No, you do not need to drop ten grand to sit at a poker table (unless you want to). Miami’s casinos are open to all skill levels and offer everything from hardcore Texas hold ‘em to good old bingo. May luck be on your side.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

What is it? South Florida’s biggest casino. This absolutely mammoth complex features a sprawling casino with neon slots, roulette and over 100 tables offering blackjack, poker, Texas hold 'em and more. But gambling is only part of the attraction here. There are multiple restaurants (sushi lovers with deep pockets should check out Kuro), bars and live entertainment. The Hard Rock’s music venue also nabs some of the biggest touring comedians and musicians rolling through Florida.

Why go? To bear witness to the Hard Rock’s stunning new guitar-shaped 638-room hotel. It’s a ridiculous feat of engineering.

Why go? Where else can you see a 110-foot tall pegasus statue that shoots fire into the air?

Why go? They have high stakes bingo and a huge 1,000-seat bingo hall. Grandma’s going to love it.

What is it? Miami’s oldest casino and race track. This place has been around since 1925 (Seabiscuit once raced here) and still draws a crowd to its track to bet on the ponies. If you’re not having any luck on the track, there are slots, poker and electronic table games inside.

Why go? The casino hosts frequent poker tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 for real big spenders.

Casino Miami

What is it? It ain’t the Bellagio, folks, but this little local casino will do the trick if you just want to bang away on the slots for a while. They have about 1,000 slots and electronic roulette, so you should be able to find a seat.

Why go? To check out the live jai alai seven days a week.
