Where to Play Poker in the Seattle Area in

Caribbean. The other Maverick poker room, this room is in northern Kirkland and has a location advantage that is going to be unassailable. For folks in many parts of the Eastside it&#;s pretty much the only reasonable option distance wise. The atmosphere is friendly though a bit dark. The notable thing about the Caribbean is that it&#;s home to the biggest game in town. On Friday&#;s there is a popular (if unusual) 5/10/20 NL holdem game. Keep in mind there is still a $ max bet. Because preflop is so bloated you can think of it as a preflop NL post flop limit game where your bets and raises are all $ post flop.

Hollywood (RIP ). The new kid on the block was brand new for but doesn&#;t seem to have survived to Maverick certainly played a part in making their entry to the market difficult but mostly they were undone by a very poor initial rollout. I have lots of thoughts on what they did wrong but they say not to speak ill of the dead.

Skyway Bowl. Ok this is just a rumor but from a reliable source. Maverick appears to be making some moves for into this South Seattle location traditionally Fortune&#;s turf. Keep an eye out for the impending battle between the two major poker operators. Hollywood had tried to survive on niche games like mix and some Omaha hi/lo variants but they didn&#;t have a core cash cow game needed to survive. Maybe this new location can pick up some of those games that no longer have a home.

It feels like tribal rooms were caught flat-footed, probably because poker is not a core business for their casinos. They either didn&#;t see the value or lacked the imagination to defend their poker turf. Nothing symbolized this more than the demise of the ever shrinking but much loved poker room at Snoqualmie casino. It all ended bitterly with the player&#;s jackpot money being diverted to table games in a move that appeared to be legal but morally dubious. The biggest mystery for me, as I&#;m driving in circles trying to find a good parking spot at these crammed lots of non-tribal poker rooms, is how the tribal rooms ceded their dominance without a fight. Every day I see hundreds of people with money to burn walking into these rooms and yet the tribal casinos don&#;t see enough value in them walking across their casino floors instead. These are the same casinos that run free bus services, give you free vouchers and meals, and constantly give away cars and trucks just to get people in the door. Strangely, the market that is almost completely untapped is the tournament poker market. There is a ton of demand for half decent tournaments in the northwest but Seattle is not a good place for tournament players. Hopefully Muckleshoot will see the opportunity and will get back in that game in the not too distant future.
